COLORADO MARTIAL ARTS CENTER
A premier source of personal defense skills for those who desire to prepare themselves against violence.
To All Members and Prospective Members of CMAC:
Given the current state of the COVID-19 virus and its expected growth and spread through Colorado, we have made the difficult decision to suspend all classes for the time being. The martial arts’ strategies, techniques, and drills we routinely practice involve close personal contact between participants. Our curriculum and class structure are built on interactive practice, involving touching and grappling. Students work in close proximity with each other, which could unfortunately facilitate the transfer of illness. While we strive to maintain a safe and clean environment, in class, students work closely together, share equipment, and work on the same mats. By cancelling our classes, we hope to prevent any unintentional spread of germs and viruses. We hope you understand our decision has been made to protect everyone. Classes will be held for everyone to make up at a later date. If anyone has any concern with make-up sessions and/or tuition already paid for the month, please don’t hesitate to reach out. We are happy to workout satisfactory arrangements for everyone. Classes will resume at a yet to be determined date.
Prevention and preparation are effective keys to defeating opponents, be they human or microbial/viral. Stay safe and stay healthy! Thank you!
Please contact us to schedule a time to observe and or participate in the class.
We offer a complimentary trial program, which allows you to assess our methods to see if they meet your needs and goals. The trial program features multiple sessions, giving you the opportunity to experience several hours of classroom instruction with no further commitment required.
For the last several years, we've provided fundamental personal protection courses to several local church congregations, youth groups, and at corporate training events.
We've provided tailored training events to small and large groups:
Fundamental personal protection
Women's self-defense seminars
Child safety courses (ages 8-11)
Youth safety courses (ages 12-17)
If you or your organization is interested in hosting a personal or family protection event, please contact us.
Preparedness for conflict is not a yes or no equation. Everyone falls in a different place on the continuum of readiness. At one end are young children, incapable of protecting themselves; at the other end are members of elite special-forces. Most of us are somewhere in the middle. We can all take steps to better prepare ourselves for critical defensive situations. The values, tactics, and techniques of martial arts provide a good foundation upon which we can build an effective system of personal defense.
We do not believe in violence; however, we believe even less in being unprepared if violence is beset upon us. Without training, your only hope is to improvise an unpracticed solution to an imminent threat. Training at Colorado Martial Arts Center serves as a rehersal for solving threats. Your training can provide you with well practiced solutions to recognized problems. So, if facing down a threat, you can stand with confidence in your abilities to handle the situation.
Our philosophy is founded upon fundamental principles of personal defense. We will focus on what you can do and not on what you can’t do, working within your physical capabilities and limitations. The goal of training is to develop the mental fortitude and physical skills needed to survive violent conflicts. Responses to threats need to be effective and efficient; they must present themselves naturally and spontaneously when the need arises. Your effort on the training floor leads to greater confidence in your ability to remain calm amidst the chaos. Peace through preparation!
